Probably twice as bright at least. So far the fluval light seems very well constructed. The light is excellent for fish only marine tanks or freshwater low light planted tanks such as crypts anubis and java fern. The plug is a bulky transformer plug at the very end of the cord which i am not crazy about because it takes up too much room on a surge strip but it works fine.
